Christmas in Merano
The festive season begins and we love getting in Christmas mood. Merano is famous for its Christmas market, one of the most beautiful in South Tyrol. It is located right on the banks of the River Passer: from 29th November 2024 until 6th January 2025
Experience the magic of Advent and see for yourself how Merano transforms into a festive living room - from the Christmas market along the Kurpromenade to Sandplatz, where you can find an atmospheric village of wooden huts with a large chalet and Michelin-starred cuisine. Thermenplatz is home to an enchanting winter wonderland complete with countless fir trees and an ice-rink, the best view of which can be enjoyed from the Sky Bar above.
A brand new feature and extra special highlight this year is the magical ‘Lumagica’ light park in the Gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle. For the first time, the gardens are opening their gates during the winter months to offer this unprecedented magical attraction. The only park of its kind in South Tyrol, it leads you on a memorable journey through the fascinating botanical gardens taking in breathtaking, hand-crafted light installations on the way.
The cosy Liberty's Bistro & Bar at Hotel Europa Splendid also has a Christmas atmosphere, offering a light yet delicious lunch as well as exquisite sweet treats in the afternoon. The evening continues with a festive aperitif in our winter forest, where you can choose from delicious mulled wine or sparkling Bollicine - the perfect start to an unforgettable Advent evening.
