The Burggrafenamt is the idyllic area surrounding Merano in South Tyrol. The name reveals its meaning - “district of the burgraves”. In fact it counts to the area with the most castles.
This area is also the family seat of the counts of Tyrol, who gave the whole region its name – the grandiose Tyrol Castle, which can be found in the Burggrafenamt.
